Meet the First Students to March Through the Arch

On September 18, incoming students marched through Weber Arch, symbolizing their official welcome to the 澳门六合彩开奖记录 community. Exhibition Reception: Sweet, Juicy, and Rebellious, works by Linye Jiang

"Fruit" was historically a derogatory term in Western culture, targeting gay men by associating them with femininity. In "Sweet, Juicy, and Rebellious," I reclaim this symbolism through Fruit Portraits—a series that challenges societal norms and celebrates queer identity and femininity.

The installation also features two video pieces: Tenderness and Warmth, inviting viewers to reflect on the subtle, yet profound, effects of touch and their surroundings. For more information click here.

Ombuds Day Open House

Join the Alice Millar Chapel Choir

Chapel Choir is an auditioned mixed chorus open to all 澳门六合彩开奖记录 students. The choir rehearses Tuesdays 4:00-5:40 PM and Thursday 4:00-5:10 PM with rehearsals or performances most Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Auditions will consist of vocalization and basic sight-singing; auditionees are welcome to bring a solo selection to sing (accompanist is provided), though this is not required. Downtown Summer Sounds – Rosalba Valdez and Mariachi Sirenas

  • 5:00 PM: Rosalba Valdez's music showcases upbeat original songs and popular covers with Latin rhythms, bilingual lyrics, and a feel-good social justice theme. 
  • 6:00 PM: Mariachi Sirenas is proud to represent the genre and tradition of mariachi music in the Chicagoland area.
Presented in partnership with Evanston Pride – During the concert, Evanston Pride will have a piñata for children, and host a mercado showcasing Latinx and LGBTQIA+ vendors and resource booths

Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Training

Searle Hall, Student Services Building,  633 Emerson St

This one-hour training is for students who are interested in being trained to administer Narcan (naloxone). Attendees will learn how to recognize signs of an opioid overdose, identify when it is appropriate to use Narcan, learn how to administer Narcan to an individual they believe is experiencing an overdose, and identify additional emergency steps to take. All attendees will receive a two-pack of Narcan upon completion of the training. 


mindfulNU Fall Cohort

Join the Fall ‘24 cohort of MindfulNU, an evidence-based approach to explore meditation and mindfulness in an environment of relational, experiential, and reflective learning. Group practices include sitting, walking, loving kindness meditation, writing, and group sharing. Co-led by staff and students. Learn more and sign up for more information here.

DeBerry Civic Scholars Applications OPEN

The program provides students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful public service rooted in the local community and the reflection space to process those experiences.


Grounding for Public Service (GPS)

Grounding for Public Service (GPS) Club is a weekly learning and connecting space (with FREE DINNER) focused on social justice and equity education in Evanston and Chicago. We focus on growing our knowledge of Evanston and Chicago through a racial justice and equity lens. The goal is to build a community of informed and engaged citizens. All are welcome! Come and go format.


Books and Breakfast Volunteers Needed

The longstanding Books & Breakfast program offers a nutritious breakfast and homework help to K-5 students at 7 Evanston elementary schools. This program currently serves over 250 kids each week supported by dozens of 澳门六合彩开奖记录 students and community volunteers. Volunteers usually serve one day per week from 8-9am. Tutors help with homework and support students socially and emotionally. Volunteers must attend a B&B 101 and 201 session before starting with children!


 

Academic Accommodations for Religious Holidays 

Under 澳门六合彩开奖记录's policy on academic accommodations for religious holidays, students are not penalized for class absences to observe religious holidays. If your observance conflicts with a class meeting, exam, or assignment deadline, consult with your instructor by the end of the second week of the term (Friday, October 4). For any undergraduate courses with a (that is, scheduled outside of regular class time) or , submit an accommodation request through the Office of the Provost’s form by the end of the second week of the term.
