FUNCTIONAL AREA: Student Organizations & Activities (SOA)

REPORTS TO: An Assistant Director of SOA, and to the Associate Director and/or Director of SOA as needed. Graduate Assistants may also informally report to any of the other SOA staff for specific project-based assignments.

Campus Life facilitates transformative experiences for students through a broad range of opportunities for learning and development. By engaging students in fraternity/sorority life, student organizations, leadership development, and within the community, we partner with students to explore and develop their potential. 

Student Organizations & Activities engages students in involvement opportunities to build a stronger sense of belonging and community at 澳门六合彩开奖记录. We support, advise, and train student leaders in 400+ registered student organizations and facilitate on and off-campus programming and entertainment.

PAST RESPONSIBILITIES AND PROJECTS HAVE INCLUDED: 

Each Graduate Assistant's job responsibilities are tied to projects in any of the areas listed below. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of potential duties.  

Campus Programming:

  • Advise NU Nights, a student organization that plans weekend, late night, substance-free programming
  • Support various SOA/NU Nights evening events per quarter (generally Fridays or Saturdays from 8-11p, but days/times are subject to change)
  • Coordinate event logistics and sign-up procedures for SOA-sponsored in-person events as needed
  • Assist curating and maintaining SOA’s quarterly programming calendar
  • Plan and execute one signature event (likely in the winter or spring quarter) for undergraduate students.
  • Plan and execute SOA-sponsored on-campus and off-campus events including Wildcat Welcome, late night programming, student organization fairs, Parent & Family Weekend and the SOA Passport Program
  • Support large-scale events on campus including A&O Blowout Concert, A&O Ball Concert, Dance Marathon, and Dillo Day Music Festival
  • Benchmark late night programming and student organizations at other institutions to assess levels of funding, types of programming, and student/administrative support
  • Potential for initiatives or projects that support the mission of Student Affairs pertaining to student success and wellbeing

All Graduate Assistants will be required to: 

  • Assist with management of social media, marketing, and website content for the department
  • Collaborate with professional staff as requested including, but not limited to, projects such as learning assessments and program development
  • Attend staff meetings and departmental/divisional meetings and offerings as schedule allows
  • Review and process requests for Student Activity Assistance Fund (SAAF)
  • Manage logistics of multiple large and small scale events and programs
  • Represent the office at signature Division of Student Affairs events
  • Participate on campus committees as a departmental representative
  • Additional projects assigned per conversations with supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in or applying to a related master’s level graduate program (i.e. student affairs, higher education, college student personnel, psychology, counseling, leadership, etc.)
  • Ability to accomplish goals and tasks in a fast-paced, teamwork environment
  • Communicates effectively one-to-one, in small groups, and in public speaking contexts
  • Creates an environment of understanding and inclusion
  • Effectively performs duties and responsibilities; displays attention to detail
  • Demonstrates ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to easily contact and develop working relationships with students and colleagues

HOURS: ~20 hours/week during academic term; hours variable based on events and meetings; some nights and weekends are required; currently this role allows for partial remote work upon agreement between the student and their respective supervisor

COMPENSATION: $20/hour, bi-weekly pay dates
