News & Announcements
September 4, 2020
Hello,
Given the University’s recent announcement to only allow third-and fourth-year undergraduates, graduates students, and professional students on campus, we are writing to advise what options exist for those students no longer allowed on campus during Fall 2020 quarter. All students who hold comprehensive health insurance coverage in the area of remote study will be eligible to waive the NU-SHIP. This includes students who have already enrolled in the NU-SHIP or have not yet enrolled during this period of open enrollment.
We ask that students wishing to change their election and/or waive please (via the student's portal) to submit a waiver application. Please review our screenshot guide for assistance on how to submit your waiver application. Once you have successfully submitted your waiver, the default charge will reverse within 1-2 business days. If you would like to enroll when you return to campus please reach out to our office prior to your arrival.
Alternatively, if you would like to retain your NU-SHIP you are eligible to do so. The NU-SHIP acts as Open Access PPO plan that provides coverage nationwide/worldwide. If you would like to retain your NU-SHIP coverage please (via the student's portal) to confirm your NU-SHIP enrollment. Please review our screenshot guide for assistance on how to confirm your enrollment.
Best,
The Student Health Insurance Team
