1. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take items 4 and 5 in private.


2. Scottish Water (Annual Report and Accounts 2023-24):

The Committee took evidence from—

Deirdre Michie, Chair, Alex Plant, Chief Executive, Peter Farrer, Chief Operating Officer and Professor Simon Parsons, Director of Environment, Planning and Assurance, Scottish Water.

Douglas Lumsden indicated that before he was an MSP he served on the board of Opportunity North East (ONE) alongisde Deirdre Michie.

Monica Lennon declared an interest as a member of GMB Trade Union and Unite the Union. She also declared an interest as Chair of the Scottish Labour Trade Union Parliamentary Group.


3. Petition PE2123:

The Committee considered the following petition—

Update air quality standards in Scotland to align with 2021 World Health Organisation guidelines.

The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government.




4. Scottish Water (Annual Report and Accounts 2023-24) (In Private):

The Committee considered the evidence heard earlier under agenda item 2.


5. Work programme (In Private):

The Committee considered its work programme.

The Committee agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Energy to draw attention to responses received to the Committee's letter on the upcoming Climate Change Plan. 

The Committee agreed to write to Ferguson Marine Port Glasgow (FMPG) about the MV Glen Rosa and agreed to respond to the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice's letter on the 2026 – 2031 Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan.

The Committee agreed to make representations to the Parliamentary Bureau about Stage 1 scrutiny of the Wellbeing and Sustainable Development (Scotland) Bill.
