That the Parliament commends a man from Menstrie who has written of his experiences climbing the 77 Ochil Hills following the discovery of stage four prostate cancer; understands that Alistair Spowage was told that he had the disease in 2016 and turned to blogging about his outdoor escapades to take his mind off what he saw as a "pretty devastating" diagnosis; acknowledges that now, with his condition under control, he has released a book, called At Hame in the Ochils, to share his joy of climbing the scenic peaks that overlook Clackmannanshire; understands that Alistair had pored over maps of the Ochils during the long days of the COVID-19 lockdown and that he set about painting stones for the summits of hills; further understands that some parts of the book are given to lists, statistics and references that he has said will appeal to some readers, while the stories of visiting the 77 summits will appeal to others, as the book includes data and information regarding each hill, in addition to photographs and hand-drawn maps of the walks; notes that Alistair held a launch event at the Dunmar House Hotel on 15 April 2025, where he magnanimously announced that all proceeds from At Hame in the Ochils will be donated to the Ochils Mountain Rescue Team; understands that the cancer has mercifully been contained to date, thanks to what has been described as the amazing work of NHS Forth Valley and the Beatson Cancer Charity, and wishes Alistair all the very best in his future endeavours.
