Alva Academy to Represent Forth Valley in the Young Enterprise Scotland Finals of 2025

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 23 April 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17260

That the Parliament welcomes the news that a Clackmannanshire school is to represent Forth Valley at a national business competition; notes that Alva Academy beat five other groups from across Clackmannanshire, Stirling and Falkirk in the Young Enterprise Scotland regional final; understands that its Aqua business idea is to create sustainable handmade products from sea glass and that, following the judges’ verdict, Alva Academy is now the Forth Valley representative in the Young Enterprise national finals; further understands that the Academy’s team is seen as an “inspiration” by Young Enterprise Scotland and that setting up and running its own successful company will have given those involved new skills to take forward into their learning and future careers; notes that the Young Enterprise Scotland programme provides real-life learning opportunities for S5 and S6 pupils, introducing them to the realities of real-life work, with participants urged to create their own company from foundation and trade their products while learning about market research, creating the item or service, and promoting it themselves; further notes that the competition finals will be held on 29 May 2025 at GTG Glasgow and will see Alva come up against teams from across Scotland; congratulates the Alva team on its fantastic endeavours thus far, and wishes it and everyone involved all the very best in the final stage of the competition.
