  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 23 April 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17245

That the Parliament recognises and commends the work of the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock for its ongoing commitment to supporting people living with Parkinson’s through the arts; notes that the Beacon runs weekly Dance for Parkinson’s classes in partnership with Scottish Ballet and Dance Base; further notes that these classes allow participants to improve coordination and confidence, while offering support with loneliness and isolation through the post-class social café; acknowledges that Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, with around 12,400 people diagnosed in Scotland, and congratulates the Beacon Arts Centre, volunteers, teachers and participants of Dance for Parkinson’s for making a meaningful contribution to the lives of people living with the condition in Inverclyde and beyond.
