That the Parliament notes the reported increase in participation in netball in Scotland in recent years; understands that Netball Scotland has seen an increase in its membership of 15% in this time; understands that netball can be an important tool for ensuring women and girls continue to play sports throughout their lives, with an estimated 65% currently dropping out from sports during puberty; considers that physical activity and team sport can improve mental health and understands that it has been correlated with long-term friendship, reduced levels of both stress and anxiety and improving resilience; notes that netball will be played at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time, and views this as an opportunity to inspire a new generation of players.
