Congratulating Councillor Janis McDonald on her Retirement

That the Parliament congratulates Councillor Janis McDonald on her retirement after working for charities, local authorities and the NHS since 1982; recognises that Janis started her career as a charge nurse at Gartloch Hospital and then joined various specialist services for people affected by alcohol issues within several local authorities; notes that Janis also worked with the Glasgow Homeless Network and managed Renfrewshire Council’s Voluntary Service; understands that she then joined DeafScotland in 2014 as chief officer before a merger with ALLIANCE where she worked on the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015 before retiring in March 2025; further understands that in all of Janis’s roles throughout her career she has helped members of the public with various difficult issues, and that she will continue to do so in her role as Councillor for the Paisley Northwest Ward in Renfrewshire, and wishes Janis all the best in her retirement as she plans to travel and spend more time with her family.
