Shetlander Connor Leslie Wins Shetland鈥檚 First National Boccia Medal

That the Parliament congratulates Shetlander Connor Leslie on winning bronze at the Scottish Disability Sport National Schools’ Boccia Championships 2025, and becoming the first boccia player from Shetland to gain a medal at any national championship; notes that boccia is an inclusive sport for all abilities in which players compete by throwing or releasing balls towards a designated target ball, which is called a jack; understands that the National Schools Boccia Championship, hosted by Scottish Disability Sport, took place in Glasgow on 27 March 2025, and featured categories for athletes with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and those using an assist device; further understands that three athletes from Shetland competed in the Championships and commends all three on their participation; notes that boccia is one of the five sports that the Shetland team will be competing in at the Scottish Learning Disability Sport National Games to be held in Stirling in July 2025; applauds Connor for his bronze medal achievement, and wishes him and his teammates well in their future sporting endeavours.
