  • Submitted by: Sharon Dowey, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 01 April 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17014

That the Parliament congratulates all who took part in the 99th Ayrshire Music Festival, which was held throughout March 2025; understands that over 2,500 young people from across Ayrshire took part, showcasing an impressive and varied display of musical, vocal and instrumental talent, as well as performances in Scottish dance, speech and drama; notes that the final evening's concert was held at Ayr Town Hall, featuring the competitions for the festival’s premier trophies, the Elizabeth McNair Trophy for Instrumentalists and the Howard De Walden Trophy for Singers; further notes that, after extremely closely run contests, these were awarded to Iona Priestnall and Caitlin Hannah respectively; commends all who helped to organise and facilitate the festival, and praises, and is heartened by, what it sees as a thriving musical sector among young people in Ayrshire.
