That the Parliament notes with deep sadness the passing of Dr William Wilson, who died peacefully at his home on 25 March 2025; recognises that Dr Wilson was a loving partner to Phyllis, a caring father to John and Roz, a beloved grandfather and a generous friend to many; acknowledges his distinguished contributions as an elite sportsman, including his notable achievements as a three-time national Cumberland wrestling champion and his leadership in guiding a Scottish wrestling team to victory in overseas tournaments; recognises his accomplished career as a scientist and lecturer at the University of Glasgow, where he taught thousands of students and was at the forefront of pharmacological research for decades; understands that Dr Wilson was also a successful businessman through his pharmacy business; pays tribute to his tireless dedication and decades of work behind the scenes as a passionate campaigner for Scottish independence; notes his wide range of other accomplishments, including his skills as an accomplished hiker, DIY enthusiast and fisherman; commends his reputation as a humble and generous individual, and expresses its sincere condolences to his partner, Phyllis, his children, family, and friends on their profound loss.
