That the Parliament congratulates the makers of the documentary film Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story for winning the Science and Natural World award at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards, which were held in London on 25 March 2025; understands that the documentary, directed by Charlie Hamilton James, follows the story of Molly, a wild otter that washed up on a jetty in desperate need of food, near the home of Billy and Susan Mail, in Shetland, from whom she received the care she needed; further understands that the film was released internationally by National Geographic and Disney+; notes that the judges described the film as “a piece of mesmerising television, which successfully combined epic scale with a sense of intimacy in telling the story of its subject”; congratulates the team behind the film on the three prizes that it received at the Wildscreen Panda Awards in 2024, including Best Production; commends the filmmakers on their nomination in the Specialist Factual category of the BAFTA TV Awards to be held on 11 May 2025; thanks Billy and Susan Mail for sharing this touching story through the film, and wishes them all the best for the future.
