  • Submitted by: Karen Adam, Banffshire and Buchan Coast, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 01 April 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16983

That the Parliament commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Banff Preservation and Heritage Society; recognises that the society was established in 1965 by a group led by Mrs Urquhart of Craigston and the Banff architect, Jack Meldrum, who united individuals passionate about preserving Banff's architectural heritage; acknowledges the society's significant contributions, including the restoration of numerous historic buildings in the Royal Burgh of Banff, such as the renovation of 12 Deveronside in 1966; notes that the society, in partnership with Aberdeenshire Museums Service, manages the Banff Museum, which was founded in 1828 and stands as the oldest museum in Scotland north of Perth, offering visitors a comprehensive insight into the rich history of Banff and Banffshire, and wishes the society continued success in its ongoing efforts to preserve and promote the area's cultural and architectural heritage.
